Resident Artist at (Re)Create during the Summer of 2022

    ​​Gloria McLean -dancer, choreographer, performer, artist, and teacher— is the artistic director of LIFEDANCE/Gloria McLean and Dancers based in New York City and Andes, NY in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. A lifelong dancer, her work exists on a wide continuum from "pure" dance (solo "I Am. It Dances" in Athens 2022), to adventurous collaborations with visual art (the Lifedrawing Series of performance paintings) and artists (her long collaboration with sculptor Ken Hiratsuka), composers and musicians (long list), environments, as well as proscenium theaters.

    ​​McLean's work has been presented in the U.S. and internationally. Some New York venues include the 92nd Street Y, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, Cunningham Studio, Dia Center for the Arts, Tenri Cultural Center, La Mama, the Kitchen, Performance Mix, and with the American Dance Guild, where she was President from 2012-2025. She has been produced at American Dance Festival, Brattleboro Museum, festivals in Ireland, Paris, Montreal, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, and China.
